What Customers Say About Philips CD4402B/37 High Def Voice Cordless Phone:

I use Verizon FIOS and the sound couldn't be clearer. I also had a hell of a time figuring out how to delete a number from the phone book. Now I can get about a 45 minute call in before dying. So my DUH moment- I hated the fact that I couldn't take a caller ID call and put it in the phone book, without having to redo the whole number to be able to add the "1" prefix. BUT that's what you get for not consulting the manual.Would I ever buy this phone again. Because I work from home, i'm on the phone all day, mostly on speakphone.

No.I've bought 2 phones since then and taken both back. I finally read the manual online today and saw that you have to press the format button, which will display the number as a different format. It's taken a year or so, but the batteries have gotten to the point where they only stay charged for a 20 minute call. Ok- when I initially got this phone, the battery lasted forever. And one of the phones, if you press the speakerphone button, the phone just dies.Soooooo, i went out and bought new rechargable batteries.

It shouldn't be rocket science.

One of the devices we take for granted until they don't work AND you need them. Fine, accept my mom is now living with me with terminal cancer & we need a phone for regular contact with the hospital. the sound quality got continually poorer over the period of a little over a year to the point where I was hearing Charlie Browns teacher on the other side. so I broke it in half & placed an order for a couple of Panasonic units that got very high reliability ratings. easy to use, nice display, functional and simple. HOWEVER. Wow did I get mad when this sound quality went bad & I was on the phone with her health care people.

I don't see the value in that.I also wondered whether it was a question of not having properly registered the phones, but we went through that carefully and it made no difference. This is the first phone we've owned of any sort, corded or cordless, that lacks the "Line in Use" indicator, and for us, it's enough to warrant returning them. I scoured the manual for any mention of this feature but didn't find it. One key omission from these phones I didn't see mentioned by any other reviewer: There appears to be no "Line in Use" indicator showing that an extension elsewhere in the house is off the hook or being used. In our house, that has led to embarrassing interruptions in business calls. The closest these phones have is a little phone icon that lights when that particular phone -- but not another phone in the house -- is in use.

There are no icons available for Home versus Mobile versus Work so you are forced to use characters in the name to delineate the details.Once the Phonebook is set on one handset, it does let you copy the Phonebook to another handset, but it requires you to press "OK" on the receiving handset. So, "Unger, Felix (M)" is too long. When using the speaker on the handsets, there is one volume and it is high, no adjustments available at all to the speaker volume. And, as others have noted, these handsets digest battery power at a phenomenal rate. Even at the lowest volume setting they are extremely harsh sounding.Once you get one handset configured, you cannot then propagate those settings to the other handsets. It is like this is the very first time they have designed a phone and they didn't imagine very many use cases. It is incredibly annoying to have to abbreviate everyone's entry.

The handset battery meter will drop one bar in 10 minutes when just entering phonebook data.I normally like Phillips products, but this system is clearly an exception. I have had this system for one week and it is being returned today.I found the choice of ring tones to only be annoying or more annoying. You actually have to set the time, date, ring tones, ring volume, etc for each handset. The Phone book only allows 12 characters (including spaces) for any name. Forget being in one room and propagating Phonebook changes to all of the phones in your house. The volume controls are abysmal.

Do not waste your money. I fully charged it for 24 hours before first use.

Go with VTech, always reliable and cheaper. I had to go out and get a different one.

I am so disappointed. Please, don't make the same mistake I did.

Would have given it zero stars if I could (I tried, actually). The battery on this one dies after about 20 minutes of being on the phone or a couple of hours off the charger.

I should have known - I have never had a good experience with any Philips product.
